Alexandria / Mt. Vernon Office

Mila

Dr. Chu received her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Utica College, NY. She obtained her Bachelor in Physical Therapy degree from RTR Medical Foundation. She became a Geriatric Certified Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in 2018 after working with the geriatric population for so many years. In her desire to provide an eclectic approach for various patient populations, she took a leap in practicing in different rehab settings in order to further hone her skills. In addition, Dr. Chu is also Certified in Dry Needling (Cert. DN) and Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Manual Tool (STMT-1). Dr. Chu is driven and passionate in providing exemplary patient care through professional experience, current evidence-based practice, and continuing education. Dr. Chu and her husband are proud parents of 3 boys.  In her free time, Mila likes to sing and dance and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Shasta

A native of Mississippi, Shasta attended Mississippi State University, earning her Bachelors in Fitness Management. As a military spouse & mother of two, she is afforded the opportunity to live in various cities and constantly meet new people. Upon her family's 1st tour to northern VA, Shasta attended Northern Virginia Community College, receiving her Associates degree Physical Therapist Assistant. Upon her family's 2nd tour to northern VA, Shasta joined the Alliance staff. In her spare time, Shasta enjoys reading, traveling, dancing, going to movies & sporting events, and hanging out with family (especially her children) & friends.

Eric

Dr. Federico "Eric" A. Umayam II garnered his bachelor in physical therapy from Southeast Asian College, Philippines, 2002. He then served in the United States Navy from 2003-2011 where he further improved his professionalism, exceptional work ethic, leadership, and personal development. He obtained his doctorate degree in physical therapy from Utica College, New York in 2017. Dr. Eric has a profound interest in soft tissue manipulations and joint mobilizations, and has taken courses specializing in shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, neck and back disorders. He has treated a variety of patients, including but not limited to musculoskeletal problems, post-surgical conditions (i.e. knee and hip replacements, cervical and lumbar fusions, shoulder, knee, and foot repair), and vertigo patients. In addition, he is also the Clinic Director of our Mount Vernon Clinic to ensure delivery of outstanding quality of care to our patients.

Alexandria / Nr. Alex Hosp. Office

Dakota

Dakota Ferrell received her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from Howard University in Washington, DC. She was born and raised in the Northern Virginia area. Her clinical experiences include skilled nursing, mental health, and pediatric occupational therapy services. She joined Alliance in 2016 and is excited to expand her experience to include outpatient services as well. In her free time, she enjoys to cook, spend time with family and friends, and read.

Taeyong

Taeyong Kim received his Bachelors degree in physical therapy from Sahmyook University, Seoul South Korea in 2013. After graduating in 2013 he worked in an orthopedic hospital in Seoul, South Korea where he was able strengthen his skills in an acute environment. Thereafter, he received his doctorate degree from Loma Linda University, California in 2015. He has completed kinesiotaping courses as well as other manual therapy courses in South Korea from the National Athletes Training Center and Bobath basic course in South Korea from Bobath hospital. He is currently enrolled in a dry-needling course that will allow him to practice dry needling treatments. He joined Alliance in 2016 upon graduation and is extremely excited about the opportunity to apply his skills in the outpatient field. In his free time Taeyong enjoys playing soccer, exercising and working out, as well as going out to watch movies.

Xylene A.

Xylene earned her Physical Therapy degree in 2003 at the University of Perpetual Help - Dr. Jose G. Tamayo Medical University in the Philippines. She joined Alliance at the Alexandria office as a Physical Therapist trainee in the year 2011. She is currently working as a Physical Therapist Assistant pending her Physical Therapy license. She enjoys working with neurology and orthopedic conditions. Patients appreciate her good humor and friendliness while she focuses on their rehabilitation. Her connection with the patients motivates them to work harder on their recovery. She enjoys cooking, going on nature trips, listening to music, and watching romantic comedy movies.

Rimjhim

Rimjhim earned her degree in Physical Therapy from Manipal University, India. After graduating in 2007, she worked at Fortis Hospital in Mumbai and her clinical experience included in-patient and out-patient orthopedic, cardio-pulmonary, and neuro rehabilitation. Thereafter, Rimjhim pursued her Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology at The George Washington University. During graduate school, she completed her internships in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation at Inova Health System hospitals. Rimjhim joined Alliance in 2011 upon graduation. Rimjhim is dedicated to providing quality care through individualized approach. She helps patients succeed by providing functional strengthening and therapeutic exercises combined with manual therapy. She incorporates Kinesiotaping, Muscle Energy techniques, myofascial release, PNF techniques while treating her diverse patient population including patients with sports injuries, post operative conditions, bio-mechanical and movement dysfunctions, balance and vestibular disorders. When not working, Rimjhim loves spending time with her husband, her friends and loves swimming, dancing, and watching movies.

Yvonne C.

Yvonne Claire Umayam graduated from Northern Virginia Community College with an A.A.S degree in Physical Therapist Assistant. To further her career, she pursued her undergraduate degree at George Mason University, where she earned her B.S in Health, Fitness, and Recreation Resources, Kinesiology Concentration. She has had prior hands on in a variety of clinical settings including fitness centers, outpatient orthopedic, SNF, and, Total Joint Replacement hospital and in-patient rehab which have added to her knowledge base in treating various conditions and diagnoses. Yvonne is dedicated in providing quality of care that utilizes evidence-based manual techniques and modalities to restore optimum mobility and functional independence of her patients. Yvonne loves spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys dancing, fitness, hiking, camping, and wants to travel the world.

Colonial Heights / Richmond Area Office

Nathan S.

Nate is the clinic director for Alliance Physical Therapy in our Midlothian and Colonial Heights locations. He is a 2010 graduate of James Madison University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences with a Health Studies concentration. Nate earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Old Dominion University in 2013 where he was inducted into the Alpha Eta National Honor Society for Allied Health by his faculty. After graduation, Nate became a traveling physical therapist specializing in orthopedics and gaining experience working in 7 different states across the country. In early 2015 he was recognized as a board-certified specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. His clinical interests include addressing the complexity of whiplash injuries and concussions, reintegrating functional patterns, and enhancing sports performance. Nate prides himself in going above and beyond for each patient and individualizing their program. By individualizing the programs and staying away from cookie-cutter approaches, it promotes long term success by teaching the tools to maintain rehab progress once discharged. His overall goal is to get each patient back to doing what they love, whether that is picking up their grandchildren, driving to the grocery store, walking on the beach during the next family vacation, hiking the Shenandoah trails, returning to playing a round of golf, or maximizing an athlete’s performances to the next level.

Vincent

Vinny is a native of Alliance, Ohio. He graduated from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio in 2010, with a major in Pre-Physical Therapy/Exercise Science. He also played football all 4 years for the Crusaders. He went on to graduate from Lynchburg College with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2015. While at Lynchburg College, Vincent developed a strong interest in orthopedics and manual physical therapy. He accepted a position after graduation in Blacksburg, Virginia. While there, Vincent advanced his manual skills while treating a variety of populations, athletes and common and complex orthopedic injuries.Vincent moved to Richmond, Virginia 1 year ago and began treating the geriatric population in Hopewell. He became an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy in July 2018. Vincents personal interests including spending time with his family and friends, cheering for Ohio sports, working out and collecting vintage football helmets. He looks forward to treating the Colonial Heights area and elevating the physical therapy experience with current evidenced based practice through personal experience and continuing education..

David

David is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina and graduate of NC State University with a B.S. in Biological Science. He is also a graduate of South University Physical Therapy Assistant program in Richmond. David is a compassionate individual that focuses on maximizing a patient’s ability to rehabilitate based on the patient’s condition and goals. His clinical experiences include aquatic physical therapy, sports medicine, outpatient orthopedics, and inpatient physical therapy. David’s specialty interests in physical therapy include orthopedic management/rehabilitation, spinal rehabilitation, generalized low back pain management, whiplash associated disorders, sports medicine/rehabilitation, and personal injury cases. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time in the mountains, as well as hiking, kayaking, weight lifting, and cooking.

Fairfax Office

Diedre

A graduate of Thomas Jefferson Medical College in 1987, Diedre went on to receiving her Hand Therapy Certification (CHT) in 1991. Her vast experience has been in both the inpatient and out patient settings throughout the Northern Virginia area. Her most recent experience includes working directly with 2 local Hand surgeons. Her passion lies in patient care. Diedre enjoys treating all upper extremity conditions as well as post operative cases. She has managed many complex hand injuries. Diedre’s is also a yoga instructor, which allows her to create the ideal rehabilitative environment. She is currently treating patients in our Fairfax Office.

Joyce

Physical Therapy is Joyce's second career that started in 1996, when she graduated from Northern Virginia Community College as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Over the years, her degree has taken her to working in Home Health Care settings, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Long term and Intensive Care Physical Therapy in hospitals, Fairfax County Schools where she treated children with disabilities, and Sheltered Workshops where she worked with adults with multiple challenges. She has been with us since 2004 and enjoys Aquatic Therapy in addition to outpatient therapy. “Physical Therapy is one of the most rewarding careers for me and every environment has touched my heart. During her leisure time, Joyce enjoys gourmet cooking, crocheting, painting in her art studio and taking Ballroom dancing. “Life is good!

Hiral

Hiral graduated from SNDT University.  She has over 10 years of experience in physical therapy but has primarily focused on Outpatient Orthopedics and has treated both surgical and non-surgical patients.  Hiral's is working to becoming an Orthopedic Certified Specialist. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, dancing, reading and spending time with her family.

Rachel

Rachel earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Marymount University and an undergraduate degree from the United States Naval Academy.  Following five years of active duty service in the U. S. Marine Corps, Rachel moved to Northern Virginia to start a family and attend PT school.  Rachel was a former collegiate powerlifter, and rugby player and practiced martial arts for over 15 years. She has certifications from RKC/StrongFirst in both kettlebell and barbell training as well as TRX.  Clinical interests include Vestibular (dizziness) dysfunction, return to sports, post-operative rehab for the spine and joint replacements, and medically complex patients.  Rachel enjoys going to sporting events(Saints, LSU, Braves, Navy, Caps), playing outside with her daughter, going to the beach and traveling.

Ben

Ben graduated from Northern Virginia Community College's Physical Therapist Assistant program in 2015. He specializes in outpatient rehab for sports injuries, work accidents, orthopedics pre-and-post-op, and spinal/nerve pathologies in adults and children. His individualized treatment approach emphasizes functional exercise, manual therapy, and postural or gait training as indicated. Ben believes Physical Therapy can be a fun experience and loves giving his patients the tools and knowledge necessary to reach independence and return to the activities they enjoy. A Northern Virginia native, Ben's eclectic range of interests includes reading, writing, drawing, dancing, martial arts, board games, and cinema.

Joshua

Joshua earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University in 2012. After graduation he became a traveling physical therapist, gaining clinical experience working in 8 different cities across VA before settling down in Northern VA. His clinical interests include functional movement screening, enhancing optimal sports performance, and creating comprehensive rehabilitation programs by breaking down integrated bio-mechanics. Joshua prides himself in going above and beyond for each patient by individualizing their own unique program. By individualizing the programs, and staying away from cookie cutter approaches, it promotes long term success by teaching the tools needed in order to maintain rehab progress once discharged. In his spare time Joshua enjoys golfing, attending DC sporting events (CAPS, Nats, Wizards), and spending time with his friends/family at the beach.  His overall goal is to get each patient back to doing what they love; whether that is picking up their grandchildren, driving to the grocery store, walking on the beach during the next family vacation, hiking the Shenandoah trails, returning to playing a round of golf, or maximizing an athlete’s performance to the next level. 

Fredericksburg Office

Kelsey

Kelsey Ashby was born and raised in Woodbridge, VA before relocating to Fredericksburg, VA in 2017. She graduated in 2018 from Northern Virginia Community College with an Associates degree in Applied Sciences with a major in Physical Therapist Assistant. She would like to expand her education by takind CEU’s in manual therapy and kinesiotaping. She enjoys spending time with her family and dogs in her spare time.

Blanca

Blanca received her degree in Physical Therapy from Emilio Aguinaldo University in the Philippines. She has been practicing physical therapy in the United States for 15 years and is fluent in Tagalog. Blanca specializes in the spine and extremities. Blanca is currently treating patients at our Woodbridge Clinic.

Michael

Michael Escarda, PT earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy at Cebu Doctors’ University in 2016. His internships had a strong focus on orthopedic, neurological and sports medicine. He is currently a certified FMT provider (RockTape) and is a firm believer in using the therapeutic taping method as an adjunct to Physical Therapy. He is also planning on pursuing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy very soon to provide the best care for each and everyone of his patients.

Herndon Office

Camille

Camille Abelardo earned her bachelor's degree in 2008. She spent 7 years working at sports, orthopedic and acute care settings. Camille is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy and is also taking manual certifications to enhance her skills to provide quality care to her clients. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, surfing, and hiking with her husband.

Diedre

Sarbjeet S.

Sarbjeet S. Gill graduated from Northern Virginia Community College with his Physical Therapy Assistant Degree. He has been working in outpatient physical therapy since he graduated. Gill strongly believes hard work and staying up to date on research is the key to providing optimal care.  In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his family, go on out of state adventures, and is continuing his education by taking CEU courses to improve his skills.

Krutika

Krutika Lakhani received her degree in physical therapy in 2011. She worked extensively with orthopedic and neurological patients with a wide range of conditions which has given her the ability and confidence to develop very individualized treatment plans for her patients.  She looks at her patient's goals and develops treatments catering to their individual needs. In her spare time, Krutika loves to spend time with her family, cooking, and decorating her home.

Kieifi

Kieifi Myrick received her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from Florida International University in Miami, Fl. A native Floridian, she received a Division 1 softball scholarship to play at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL. After a series of injuries inhibiting her ability to play the game she loves, she realized her desire to help people return to the activities that are most meaningful to them, leading her to the field of Occupational Therapy. Her clinical experiences include Outpatient Orthopedics and Inpatient Neuro rehab. In her free time Kieifi enjoys to workout, travel, and spend time with family, friends and her dog Ace. 

Manassas Office

Berhanu

Berhanu graduated in 1995 from Essex Community College in Newark, NJ with an Associate's Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. He has been practicing physical therapy for over 20 years. His clinical experiences include in outpatient orthopedic, skilled nursing facilities, Long term care, home health Care, aquatic physical therapy and children with disabilities. Berhanu is a soccer player and coach for Virginia Soccer Association for over 10 years. He has also a black belts in Japanese Shotocan karate. Berhanu is currently treating patients at our Manassas Clinic.

Swati

Swati completed her Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh with a specialization in Neuromuscular PT in 2015. She received her Bachelors degree from Sancheti Institute in India.She has worked with patients suffering from Neurological disorders to Musculoskeletal injuries and Heart Diseases. She has experience in treating a wide spectrum of population including, older adults, working individuals, young athletes and neonates. She has been certified in Kinesio taping. Swati believes in evaluating her patients to find the root of the injury and follow throughout the plan of care to provide an overall challenging rehab protocol to help them reach their prior level of function. She is a dance enthusiast and tries to merge physical therapy protocols with innovative ideas to help her patients achieve their goals. Swati hopes to further her education by taking courses specializing in manual therapy and return to sport.

Shruti

Shruti completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Montana in 2017 and completed her Masters in Physical Therapy with specialization in musculoskeletal therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in 2011. She has also achieved her MBA in Healthcare Mgmt from Goldey Beacom College in 2014. She has been a PT for 10 years now and has treated a wide range of patients from pediatric to geriatric, in outpatient settings in both India and USA. She has treated a wide range of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions like shoulder rotator cuff tear, various types of bone fractures, knee ligament or meniscus injuries, degenerative diseases of spine and joints, sports injuries, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson’s disease, etc. She particularly enjoys post-operative rehabilitation for patients with different types of surgeries and helping patients return to their prior functional levels and achieve their goals. She loves adventure activities, traveling and meeting people from different parts of the world and learning about different cultures. 

Najwa

Najwa is a certified hand therapist and a licensed and registered occupational therapist at Alliance Physical Therapy's Manassas location. Najwa completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa in 1994. She went on to receive her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy in 1996 from the University of Indianapolis in Indiana. She began her career in Lynchburg, VA working in inpatient acute hospital and rehabilitation settings. During that time she discovered her passion for hand therapy and transitioned into an outpatient practice. Najwa pursued her interest in hand specialty through a mentorship at the Indiana Hand Center and in 2002 established a hand clinic in Lynchburg. Najwa earned her Certification in Hand Therapy in 2006. She brings 20 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist and is a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists. She is current with hand therapy practice trends and has become known for quality care and professionalism. Najwa lives in our area with her husband and two children, and enjoys hiking, running, cooking and piano.

Mechanicsville / Richmond Area Office

Michael

Michael Blair is a licensed physical therapist who received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) at Stonybrook University. During his time as a DPT, Michael has worked in various settings such as outpatient orthopedic, skilled nursing facilities and acute hospital care which allows for diversified diagnosis and treatment knowledge as well as appropriate exercise prescription. With a background in personal training and participation in collegiate soccer, Michael is well-versed in total-body dynamic strength and endurance training which allows for patient’s to return to their favorite recreational activity feeling both stronger and more confident. Additionally, Dr. Blair implements a plethora of manual techniques specific to patient needs and is also Level III certified in dry needling.  Outside of the office, Dr. Blair enjoys playing sports of all kinds, hiking and spending time at the beach.

Midlothian / Richmond Area Office

Crystal

Crystal graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Athletic Training from Longwood University. From there, she worked with many sports teams with athletic injuries from the high school to the collegiate level. She gained years of experience as a physical therapy technician assisting physical therapists in the care of patients.  She then continued on to obtain her degree from Tidewater Community College (TCC) in Virginia Beach, VA to become a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA).   Her experiences include outpatient orthopedics,  pediatrics, and skilled nursing facility rehab. Coming from an athletic training and Kinesiology background Crystal enjoys working with athletes of all levels and the elderly population.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach and traveling.

Nicole

Nicole Lobo is a 2015 graduate of Northern Virginia Community College’s Physical Therapist Assistant Program. Nicole has a variety of interests in physical therapy which range from working with athletes to the older population. Her clinical experiences include outpatient, pediatrics, and inpatient rehab. She is fluent in Spanish enjoys working with a diverse patient population. She is originally from a small town in upstate New York and moved to Northern Virginia in 2007. In her free time Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends as well as biking, hiking, tennis, soccer, reading, traveling, and cooking.

Joe

Joe comes to Alliance having recently relocated to the RVA area from Northern New Jersey.  He obtained his Associate as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Essex County College in 2016. Joe brings with him previous experience working in an outpatient facility treating a myriad of orthopedic and neuromuscular impairments. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and daughter, trips to the Jersey shore, and anything involving sports, whether it be watching or playing.

Kevin

Kevin graduated from Old Dominion University in 2011 with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science. He furthered his studies by obtaining his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Lynchburg College in 2016. Kevin has worked primarily as a travel therapist in subacute and outpatient settings in North Dakota and Virginia. Since graduation, he has biked across the U.S. and thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. Kevin has a real passion to help individuals return to work and sport in a safe and timely fashion.

Newport News Office

Alexis

Alexis graduated as a Physical Therapist Assistant from South University in Tampa, Florida in the Spring of 2019. She was moved by the difference physical therapy made for a family member who had undergone a lung transplant so she deiced to pursue her career in physical therapy so she could make a difference in others’ lives.  Alexis recently moved from Florida to the Tidewater area with her husband and Golden Retriever. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and exploring new areas. 

Lynnette

Lynnette graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University and has been practicing in outpatient orthopedics with emphasis on post-operative care, chronic pain as well as aquatic rehabilitation.  She spent over 10 years providing physical therapy services to active duty military members at Camp Lejeune, NC.  Her passion for physical therapy began in high school where she volunteered as an aide at a local clinic and witnessed the joy of a child with developmental delay take his first steps in the therapy gym after lots of hard work! 
Lynnette recently moved to Williamsburg from Swansboro, NC with her husband and Great Dane, Penelope.  She enjoys amusement parks, curling and family time with her husband and their dog.
 

Megan

Megan graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from San Diego State University and has been practicing in outpatient orthopedics with emphasis on spine related injuries such as disc herniation, spinal stenosis and radiculopathies. Her passion for physical therapy started in high school when she was a student athletic trainer and grow in undergrad as a student athlete (pole vaulter). 
Megan recently moved to Virginia Beach from San Diego, California with her husband and two young kids, Andrew and Riley. She enjoys outdoor activities with her family such as going to the park and the beach or family walks along the boardwalk.

Jennifer

Jennifer graduated in 2012 from Northern Virginia Community College with an Associate's Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Since then she has worked in both outpatient orthopedics and the inpatient hospital setting, treating a variety of patient populations and conditions including post cardiac and thoracic surgery, post op orthopedic surgeries, stroke, geriatrics, general orthopedic injuries, and competitive athletes. Through manual therapy techniques, extensive patient education, and functional therapeutic exercises, she helps patients regain function and return to peak performance in sport and daily life.Jennifer’s first fitness passion is body building and she enjoys spending time at the gym lifting weights. She is an outdoors lover and enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and running. She recently completed three half marathons and will run two full marathons in the coming year. She also practices yoga and loves to dance. Jennifer completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish at George Mason University in 2000 and studied abroad in Spain and Europe upon graduation. She speaks fluent Spanish, and has a passion for people, culture and language. She has studied French and Mandarin Chinese, and is currently dabbling in Arabic. Her other interests include music, travel, and all things related to coffee.

Austin

Austin attended the University of Virginia for his undergraduate studies, and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019 with a doctorate in Physical Therapy. He has experience in both subacute and outpatient settings and is interested in working with musculoskeletal injuries as well as with post-operative cases. Austin believes in a personalized approach with each patient in order to facilitate return patients to their prior level of function. Professionally, Austin would like to pursue Orthopedic Clinical Specialist certification. Austin is a northern Virginia native that enjoys hiking, board games, reading and speaks 3 dialects of Chinese. 

Tasneem A.

Tasneem is the clinic director of the Springfield Clinic. She attended the University of Virginia for her undergraduate studies, completed her Masters in Science and Physical Therapist degree from the Medical College of Virginia, and has been practicing in the state of Virginia since 2000. She completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy two years ago from AT Still University of Health Sciences in Arizona. Tasneem initially worked in acute care, where she treated patients immediately after orthopedic, neurological and cardiac surgeries, however her passion is treating patients with orthopedic deficits. She has a strong background in manual therapy and has completed multiple continuing education courses from a nationally renowned institute, specializing in manual therapy and exercise techniques, focused on increasing range of motion, strength, stabilization, and postural control of the core, spine, and extremities. Tasneem has also been trained in treating infants with torticollis and children with mild motor deficits. She incorporates strengthening and stabilization with manual therapy to achieve a more functional and healthy lifestyle and promote overall health and wellness for our patients. Tasneem is fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu, and French, and she is currently studying Spanish.

Jin

Jin Stoothoff, PTA graduated in 1998 with a bachelors in Physical Education and a Masters in Sports Diplomacy in 2001 in Korea. She then went to Japan to study Japanese and taught college level badminton. In 2004, she came to the United States. Jin decided to further her education and started the PTA program at NOVA community college in 2009. She graduated in 2011 as a PTA. She enjoys a fast-paced outpatient environment. She specializes in the low back, shoulder, and knee. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her 4 year old son. Jin is fluent in Korean and Japanese. Jin is currently working in our Springfield clinic.

Kathryn

Katie joined Alliance in 2017. She graduated from University of Virginia in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She then served two years of AmeriCorps before returning to school to complete a Master's program in Occupational Therapy at Virginia Commonwealth University. Among her fieldwork placements, Katie worked with a skilled occupational therapist at The VA outpatient clinic in D.C. There, Katie worked with Veterans who presented with cognitive challenges, injuries to their upper extremities, and those with adaptive equipment needs. She enjoys treating patients with all upper extremity conditions, post-op cases, and fitting patients with customized splints. She is an active member of ASHT and AOTA. In her free time, Katie likes to spend time with her family and dog, go to the movies, read, and volunteer.

Michael

Michael Escarda, PT earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy at Cebu Doctors’ University in 2016. His internships had a strong focus on orthopedic, neurological and sports medicine. He is currently a certified FMT provider (RockTape) and is a firm believer in using the therapeutic taping method as an adjunct to Physical Therapy. He is also planning on pursuing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy very soon to provide the best care for each and everyone of his patients.

Benjamin

Ben graduated in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College with an Associate's Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Ben enjoys finding new and creating functional therapeutic exercises to help patients of all skills, sports and life. He continues working on improving his manual therapy skills through continuing education courses, to better treat and progress his patients. For the last 4 years, Ben has been in the top 50 and above fundraiser for The Bike MS society and in 2012 biked his first 100 mile bike ride. Starting in 2014, Ben started getting into running 10Ks to half marathons, Tough mudder’s and Gorucks. In his free time, Ben and his wife enjoy biking, hiking, fly fishing, camping, traveling, playing in bands, photography and playing with their lovely dog. In 2016, Ben and his wife welcomed their first child.

Jacquelyn

Jacquelyn graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2009 from George Mason University. She continued her education at Old Dominion University where she obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2012. As a student, she experienced many settings to include inpatient rehabilitation, acute inpatient, outpatient neurological rehabilitation and, her passion, outpatient orthopedics. She began her career with Alliance, working in our Woodbridge office after graduation. In 2016, she transitioned to our Stafford office as Clinical Director. Jacquelyn has completed continuing education to facilitate her manual treatment skills with particular focus on the shoulder, neck and back. She is proficient in Functional Capacity Evaluations and work hardening/conditioning programs to assist the injured worker's safe return to the job. Outside of work, Jacquelyn enjoys spending time her husband and two small boys, hiking, scuba diving, beach vacations and video games.

Omer

Omer graduated from George Mason University in 2012 with a degree in Exercise Science. He enjoys focusing on strength and conditioning concepts and cardiac rehab. While being a certified personal trainer and working in outpatient sports rehab, he went back to school to become a licensed PTA and provide more hand-on patient care. He is passionate about getting all patients to their goals whether it is to simply have less pain or to get back to their sport full-speed. On his personal time Omer likes to be outdoors and active as much as he can. He enjoys camping, and hiking and has recently gotten into obstacle course races completing the Spartan Race Trifecta in 2016.

Madhavi

Madhavi graduated in Physical Therapy in 2002. After graduating, she worked at the Vijaya Hospital and her clinical experience included inpatient and outpatient orthopedic, cardio-pulmonary, and neuro rehabilitation.She enjoys treating a wide variety of orthopedic conditions that includes ankle/foot, elbow, hip, sacroiliac and cervical spine dysfunctions, shoulder and knee problems, post-op conditions and balance dysfunctions. She has taken courses in vestibular rehabilitation and manual therapy and has had extensive experience in treating vestibular patients. Madhavi plans to complete her certification in dry needling.

Pamela

Pam graduated in 2009 with a B.A. degree from George Mason University. She went on to receive an A.A.S. degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from NVCC’s Medical Education Campus. Her clinical education experience includes outpatient orthopedics, extended care and rehab facilities with a variety of patients from young adults to the geriatric population. Pam believes in using an individualized approach to help patients achieve their personal goals and meet their unique needs. Pam is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and specializes in the treatment of orthopedic and sports related injuries. Pam is fluent in Vietnamese and is currently treating patients in our Tysons Corner office.

Washington DC Office

Bianca

Bianca Bass, DPT graduated from Instituto Brasileiro de Medicina e Reabiliatacao in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. She then received her Doctoral degree from Marymount University, Virginia. Bianca has been practicing Physical Therapy for the past 14 years. Since graduating, she has focused her practice in outpatient orthopedics and neurological rehabilitation. Over the years, she has enjoyed working with a variety of patients from young adults to geriatrics population. She is currently treating patients at our DC Clinic. For Bianca, the beauty of physical therapy is to help people resume their lifestyle and be independent in their daily activities.

Autumn

Autumn earned her Bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology at Georgia Southern University in 2004 and her Doctoral degree in physical therapy at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL ( Fort Lauderadale, FL) in 2011. Since graduation Autumn has worked as a licensed physical therapist in Silver Spring, Maryland with focus in Geriatric care for Genesis healthcare ( 2011-Present) and continues PRN. In recent years she changed her focus to Orthopedic Oupatient physical therapy where she worked in Greenbelt, MD treating patients from all backgrounds and ages including pediatrics to elder Adults. Autumn takes pride in showing compassion and empathy for her patients. She strives to promote great care increasing patients' quality of life and adequate return to prior level of function.

Sally

Sally graduated from Salisbury University in 2008 with a B.S. in Exercise Science and most recently earned her Physical Therapy Assistant A.A.S. degree from Northern Virginia Community College. Sally interest in orthopedic and sport-specific rehabilitation has been a driving force throughout her physical therapy education and experience. Sally approach to treatment focuses on hands-on techniques specifically tailored to each patient condition and unique goals. An avid music lover and sports enthusiast, Sally enjoys going to concerts, rooting for the Orioles, running half-marathons, and chasing around her adorable nieces and nephews.

Avisha

Avisha completed her Masters in Health Sciences (MHS) in Physical therapy from University of Indianapolis in 2013 and has been working in different therapy settings since then, treating patients of different age groups in subacute and outpatient rehabilitation. She graduated with a Bachelor in Physical Therapy in 2011 and has treated a wide variety of patients including chronic pain, post-operative rehab, orthopedic, neurological and cardio-pulmonary patients as well as working with patients that are high fall risk. She strongly believes a detailed evaluation and intervention focused on treating the root cause is the foundation of physical therapy. Avisha continues to expand and hone her clinical skills by learning different courses and techniques. She is certified in kinesiotaping and manual therapy. In her free time, she loves to spend time with family and friends, cook different cuisines, watch movies and dance.

Andrew I.

Andrew is a native of northern Virginia who graduated from Northern Virginia Community College’s Physical Therapist Assistant program in 2015. Andrew’s clinical experience includes both outpatient orthopedic and skilled nursing. His professional interests include Muscle Energy Techniques in the treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction. Outside the clinic, Andrew’s loves to practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and play with his dog. Andrew also holds a BA degree in Biology from the University of Hawaii.

Willow Lawn / Richmond Area Office

Tyler

Tyler was born and raised in Richmond, VA. He Graduated from South University with an Associates in Applied Science PTA. While completing multiple clinical externships he gained experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Tyler enjoys working with all patient populations and his passion is simply helping others. He enjoys anything outdoors from camping to playing recreational sports.
 

Matt

Dr. Matt Burress received his doctor of physical therapy degree from Elon University. Matt received his bachelor of science degree in sports medicine at Radford University. Matt is the clinical director of the Willow Lawn location and enjoys working with all patient populations to help motivate them to reach their goals, maximize their full potential, and improve their quality of life. Matt utilizes many cutting edge manual therapy treatment techniques such as kinesiotaping, dry needling, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), therapeutic cupping, Maitland, and Mulligan. In his free time Matt enjoys watching and attending sporting events.

Kristen

Kristen was born and raised in Richmond, VA. She graduated in 2017 with an Associated of Applied Science PTA from ECPI Medical Careers Institute. She would like to continue her education in physical therapy taking courses on kinesiotaping and manual therapy. She would like to return to school one day to pursue her doctorate in physical therapy. In her free time she enjoys playing soccer, hiking, and spending time with friends, family and her dog.

Haven

Haven graduated from Virginia Tech with her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise in 2012. She continued her education at Lynchburg College where she earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2016. Haven began her career treating a wide range of subacute conditions within the geriatric population, with a passion for post-stroke and neurological rehabilitation. She enjoys working in orthopedics and using comprehensive treatment approaches to tailor the patient’s care specifically to their needs. In her free time, Haven enjoys spin classes, spending time outdoors hiking with her two dogs, or relaxing at the beach.

Taylor

Taylor was born and raised in Chesterfield, VA. She graduated from ECPI Medical Careers Institute with an Associates in Applied Science PTA. She plans to further her education and get certified in LSVT- BIG and Orthopaedics. Taylor enjoys spending time with family, playing guitar, and watching sports in her free time.

CJ

CJ received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Lynchburg College in 2016, and enjoys treating a wide variety of patient populations. As part of his schooling, he did his final clinical internship with the San Francisco Giants baseball organization and likes the challenge of working with elite athletes. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree from Virginia Tech, graduating in 2013 after majoring in Human Nutrition, Foods & Exercise. He continues to support his alma mater and takes every chance he can to visit and attend football games in Blacksburg, Virginia. CJ grew up in Dover, Delaware but moved to Virginia before starting high school, and has lived all over the state since. He enjoys playing and watching sports of all kinds, as well as other outdoor activities, whether its for a hike up a mountain or a walk along the canal.

Joe

Joe comes to Alliance having recently relocated to the RVA area from Northern New Jersey.  He obtained his Associate as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Essex County College in 2016. Joe brings with him previous experience working in an outpatient facility treating a myriad of orthopedic and neuromuscular impairments. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and daughter, trips to the Jersey shore, and anything involving sports, whether it be watching or playing.

Woodbridge - Occoquan Office

Dakota

Dakota Ferrell received her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from Howard University in Washington, DC. She was born and raised in the Northern Virginia area. Her clinical experiences include skilled nursing, mental health, and pediatric occupational therapy services. She joined Alliance in 2016 and is excited to expand her experience to include outpatient services as well. In her free time, she enjoys to cook, spend time with family and friends, and read.

Kimberly

Kim is a Certified Hand Therapist and Occupational Therapist specializing in Hand Therapy since 1995. In 1995, she received a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Towson University in Towson, MD. She began her career in an acute care hospital where she worked in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Here she received a broad perspective of Occupational Therapy, to include: acute trauma, post-surgical care, stroke rehab, pediatric developmental delays, wound care, lymphedema management and hand therapy. Later, she went on to attend one of the premiere schools in the nation for Hand Therapy, Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA., where she received a post-graduate level certificate in Hand and Upper Quarter Rehabilitation. She earned the prestigious Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification in 2005.Kim has assisted with implementing and developing Hand Therapy programs in various outpatient therapy practices in Northern Virginia. She has extensive upper extremity experience with treating both children and adults with complex hand injuries. Currently, she works directly with Hand Surgeons locally that specialize in orthopedic upper extremity injuries of the upper arm, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand. Kim is an active member of the American Society of Hand Therapists and also has been trained in and is a provider of the Graston technique. Kim is a lifelong learner and she attends continuing education courses regularly so that she can provide the highest level of services to the patient’s she treats. She excels at the challenge of working with a variety of complex injuries and diagnoses and is extremely skilled in splinting and modalities. In her free time, Kim enjoys spending time with her husband and son, traveling, reading and outdoor activities.

Sneha

Sneha has been a Physical Therapist since 2010. She received her doctorate from Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago. She started working for a home health company in Chicago from 2014 to 2017 where she gained a wealth of knowledge in acute and orthopedic treatments. She joined Alliance in 2017 and is a Direct Access PT now. She enjoys working with patient's with joint replacement, low back pain, dysfunctions of the knee, ankle/foot, shoulder & spine as well as patients with vestibular and balance issues. Sneha has extensive knowledge in neurological conditions including Multiple sclerosis & Parkinson's disease and she is an LSVT certified PT for Parkinsons disorders.

Amanda

Amanda Scala graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Colorado at Boulder in 2015. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City where she pursued a master’s degree in occupational therapy at New York University. After interning on the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Mt Sinai in Manhattan and the outpatient facility at George Washington University in DC, she decided to pursue a career in orthopedic hand therapy at our clinic in Woodbridge. In her free time, Amanda enjoys traveling the world, spending time with family and friends, and staying active!

Tracey

Tracey has a Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Northern Virginia Community College, in which, she is licensed by the Board of Physical Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training and Fitness Development from George Mason University. She has an Orthopedic Certification in Aquatics from the Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Institute (ATRI). She has been an Aquatic Exercise Instructor since 1991 and a Certified Personal Trainer since 2001. She also holds certifications in several group fitness areas, including: Spinning, Turbo Kick, and BodyPump. She is a mother of two and her favorite hobby is watching movies with her family. She was Virginia State Gymnastics Champion in 1984; and was competitive in the sport for 10 years. Her newest adventure is performing in sprint triathlons.

Blanca

Blanca received her degree in Physical Therapy from Emilio Aguinaldo University in the Philippines. She has been practicing physical therapy in the United States for 15 years and is fluent in Tagalog. Blanca specializes in the spine and extremities. Blanca is currently treating patients at our Woodbridge Clinic.

Prajakta

Prajakta Killekar received her post professional Master's degree in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences with an emphasis in Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation from the University of Pittsburgh in 2015. She completed her Physical Therapy degree and has been practicing in the field of Physical Therapy for the last 5 years with expertise in managing various orthopedic populations from pediatrics, adolescents to geriatrics as well as Adult Neurological and Cardiopulmonary cases in the acute, sub-acute and outpatient settings. She has experience working with patients at various stages of the rehabilitation process and plans their recovery to achieve maximum functional independence. Prajakta is very passionate about working closely through the patient's progress to make individualized treatment plans based on the patient's needs to achieve their desired goals. She is planning to take courses to advance her manual therapy techniques and plans to receive her SFMA certification in the future. She loves to spend time with her loved ones, travel, hike, cook and paint. She is planning to start training for her first 5K.

Miguel

Dr. Lana is a graduate of Hampton University's (HU) Physical Therapy program in Hampton, VA. Prior to attending HU, Miguel worked as a PT Technician at the Alliance Woodbridge clinic. Dr. Lana completed his undergraduate studies at James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, VA earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science. Prior to transferring to JMU, Miguel attended Northern Virginia Community College and completed the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), Gen Ed., and Science programs.

RaeLynn

RaeLynn McMechan is originally from a small town in Illinios. She is a 2015 graduate from Lake Land College's PTA program. Her clinical experience includes inpatient rehab, acute care, and outpatient rehab. In her free time, RaeLynn enjoys reading, crafting, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and watching old classic movies along with foreign films and shows.

Nathaniel

Nathaniel graduated from Northern Virginia Community College in May 2010 with a degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. He obtained licensure from the Board of Physical Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia in September 2010 after successfully passing the National Physical Therapy Examination. Nathaniel has gained knowledge in treating various orthopedic injuries and has experience treating back, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle, and foot pathologies. Nathaniel has played recreational football since he was 7 years old and is a fan of all professional sports. He also enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures.

Benjamin

Francis

Dr. Ramirez received his undergraduate education from The George Washington University, where he graduated as the top student and undergraduate speaker for the commencement ceremonies of the School of Public Health and Health Services. He received both his Master of Science and Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees at the Medical College of Virginia-VCU; where he had served as the Director of Personal Training in the Medical Campus under Dr. Eric West. He has had extensive training in sports medicine and orthopedics-having worked with many youth, amateur, and professional athletes; dancers and ballerinas; and weekend warriors here and abroad. He has also worked with amputee patients; Industrial Rehabilitation clients; and is proficient with the evaluation for and fabrication of custom-made foot orthoses. He is a Board Certified Direct Access Provider; and is licensed to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia.

Dr. Ramirez is currently an Expert-level practitioner of John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release technique, which he has been practicing for over 13 years. He has also taken Advanced Manipulative Therapy courses with famed Brasilian chiropractor Dr. Ines Nakashima; and has apprenticed with various expert-level osteopathic-trained manual therapists. He has had very good results in resolving patients’ symptoms. Dr. Ramirez utilizes a multi-faceted treatment approach incorporating manual therapies, postural assessment, and innovative exercise protocols.

Dr. Ramirez is an avid fan of Manchester City FC, CR Flamengo, FC Barcelona, and DC United; and enjoys watching the “beautiful game.” He has also trained in Brasilian jiu-jitsu and capoeira, having seen the best in both arts when he traveled to Brasil.

Renee

Dr. Trombley graduated from the Medical College of Virginia with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She completed her undergraduate work at Longwood University; where she majored in Biology. At Longwood, Dr. Trombley was a member of BBB, the Biological Honor Society. She was also a teaching assistant for Microbiology during her junior and senior years. After graduation from PT school, she moved to Tampa, FL; and after working for a year at Florida Orthopedic Institute, she became an instructor and clinical physical therapist at the University of South Florida School of Physical Therapy. She was jointly appointed in Physical Therapy and Pediatrics. She co-instructed wound care; and participated in a multi-disciplinary Healthy Weight clinic for juveniles and young adults; for exercise prescription and progression. She returned to Virginia in 2010. She is a Board Certified Direct Access Provider. She is also the CCCE for all Alliance clinics.</p><p>Renee is interested in all orthopedic conditions; especially sports medicine. She has treated various diagnoses from TMJ disorders, pre-operative exercise prescription, and postoperative care. She is currently practicing and taking courses in Myofascial Release from John Barnes, PT. </p><p>Renee enjoys various sports and activities from running, tennis, golf, yoga and has recently switched from skiing to snowboarding, as well as trying indoor rock climbing. She spends most of her time with her dog Pogi, and watching hockey: Tampa Bay Lightning.
